ABOUT THE 2020 ANGELRIDE

May 23, 2020 will be the 17th Annual AngelRide! We are proud to continue our partnership with our new beneficiary: The Arthur C. Luf Children’s Burn Camp, established in 1991 for severely burned children between the ages of 8 – 18, located in Union, CT.

There are many options for AngelRiders of all ages and abilities to get involved:

  • Metric Century: Adults and Teens can ride 63.4 miles from the North Stonington Fire Department to the finish line at The Arthur C. Luf Children’s Burn Camp in Union, CT. Some riders will have the opportunity to stay overnight at Camp Wightman Retreat Center on Friday (space is limited). All riders and their families/supporters will have a unique opportunity at the Finish for a guided tour of The Arthur C. Luf Children’s Burn Camp! $100 registration fee. $500 fundraising commitment.
  • 35 Mile: Adults and Teens can ride 35 miles from Rest Stop 1 at Griswold Fire Department to Rest Stop 3 at Ashford Fire Department. Join in the finish line activities at The Arthur C. Luf Children’s Burn Camp in Union, CT! Please provide your own transportation. All riders and their families/supporters will have a unique opportunity for a guided tour of The Arthur C. Luf Children’s Burn Camp! $100 registration fee. $500 fundraising commitment.
  • Teen Rider: For ages 13-17, register for either the Metric Century or 35 mile ride. $100 registration fee. $500 fundraising commitment. Teen riders must be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times who will register to ride and is over the age of 21. Upon registration you will have an opportunity to request an “AngelRide Ambassador” adult teammate if needed. Please note that no streets are closed.

Friday Night Events

Metric Century riders have the opportunity to stay overnight at Camp Wightman Retreat Center in North Stonington on Friday night (space is limited). Transportation will be provided on Friday afternoon from the Finish in Union to Camp Wightman. Overnight riders may also drive or get dropped off at Camp Wightman. Parking will be available. Transportation from the Finish back to Camp Wightman will not be available.

Highlights include:

  • Meet The Arthur C. Luf Children’s Burn Camp staff and counselors – including a bunch who were campers not long ago!
  • Dinner in the Dining Hall
  • Ice cream social
  • Evening entertainment
  • Extremely comfortable overnight accommodations

Saturday Morning

Overnight riders are welcome to participate in the Saturday morning activities:

  • Breakfast in the Dining Hall
  • Transportation 10 miles to the Start location at the North Stonington Fire Department

Metric Century riders who wish to arrive Saturday morning, please go directly to North Stonington Fire Department.

At the Start, all Metric Century riders will join in morning activities including:

  • Safety Briefing
  • Opening Ceremony
  • Group photo
  • Send-off ceremony by a camper who is now a counselor

35 Mile Riders

35 mile riders will Start at Rest Stop 1: Griswold Fire Department and Finish at Rest Stop 3: Ashford Fire Department. They will ride along the same route as the Metric Century riders.
35 mile riders will join in:

  • Opening ceremony
  • Safety Briefing
  • Group photo

Finish Line at The Arthur C. Luf Children’s Burn Camp!

It might be the finish line but the fun isn’t over yet:

  • A unique opportunity for guided tours by CT Burns Care Foundation folks and Camp counselors!
  • Music
  • Cookout
  • Massage/Reiki
  • Family fun activities
