You are never too young to make the world a better place. Our Young AngelRides allow younger people to share our commitment to helping kids with cancer and other life-threatening diseases, our value of helping others, and our love of cycling. These Young AngelRiders are the epitome of the AngelRide motto, "Powered by Kids."
The Young Adult AngelRider
The half-day ride is for young adults, aged 11-15. Here young riders meet their adult partner at the Hopeville Pond State Park rest stop on Sunday and ride the final 25 miles in with their partner to Mystic. For safety, our older group of Young Riders will need to have a registered AngelRider as a teammate/escort.
The Young AngelRide
Our youngest riders, aged 7-11 can take part in a terrific 6-mile course in Stonington and finish at the YMCA as well. This ride is treated just like the adult ride, in that they are accompanied by a motorcycle safety escort and a police escort. All of the youngest riders have to be accompanied by a parent or an older volunteer teammate. Parents wishing to ride with the youngest riders are required to register as volunteers and wear a helmet to ride.
The registration fee for either of the Young AngelRides is $35, with a $100 fundraising requirement. Many of the Young AngelRiders in the past have exceeded this amount quite easily by involving their school in such fundraisers as Hat Day, where students and staff donated $1 to wear a hat in school that day. Like the older AngelRiders, each Young AngelRider will have their own Web site as well. This site can be used to input any off-line donations and will allow people to donate on-line as well.
