Volunteer FAQ

AngelRide Re-imagined is now 1-day, 1- location and offers opportunities for everyone to participate! In order to safely support 300 riders, mountain bikers, walkers and runners and provide a meaningful and unforgettable experience, many Volunteers are needed.

Volunteers dedicate their personal time, energies, and skills because this cause is an important expression of their beliefs. You will thoroughly enjoy the life lessons and personal satisfaction that comes along with the benefits of helping children in need.

Angel Charities, Inc. is a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization.

Q. How do I volunteer?

Q.Who is my contact person? 
A. Once you choose a position, you will be contacted by our Volunteer Team Leader.

Donations

Q. As a Volunteer, am I required to raise donation dollars? 
A. No, however, a $50 donation will provide one visit to a hospitalized child and bring the magic of Camp to his or her bedside. Once registered, you will have the opportunity to create your own personal fundraising page and raise money to support hospitalized children. It is not a requirement, but every little bit helps.

Q. How can someone donate? 
A. Either by online donations or a check. To contribute to a Rider or Volunteer, click here to send the donor a link to donate. To send a check or for general Donations, make checks out to AngelRide, PO Box 1013, Old Lyme, CT 0637.

Q. Can I set up my own personal Web page? 
A. Yes, everyone must set up his or her Web page, please. Click here and follow the directions once you have signed up.

Q. How do matching gift work?
A. Many employers match employee contributions, sometimes doubling or tripling your gift! Contact your Human Resources department to see if they participate in a matching program. Please have your donors choose "Angel Charities, Inc." tax ID 47-2608324 or "AngelRide" for their Matching Gift Recipient. AngelRide is an Angel Charities, Inc. event.

Q. What do I do with checks I receive as support for my effort? 
A. Please mail them to: AngelRide or Angel Charities, PO Box 1013, Old Lyme, CT 06371. Please make sure your name is written on the memo line so you will receive proper credit for the donation. 

Q. Should I hold on to the checks until the day of the AngelRide? 
A. No. Please do not hold your checks. The sooner we get them, the sooner your donation can get to work supporting HOP.

Q. What should I do if I receive a cash donation? 
A. We cannot accept cash donations. Please write a check for the amount donated, enter it as an off-line gift and mail it to: AngelRide, PO Box 1013, Old Lyme, CT 06371.

Weekend Logistics

Q. Can my family join me at The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp? 
A. Only invited AND registered guests may participate. There is strict security at The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp and registered participants, volunteers and invited guests will receive an ID bracelet to ensure admittance.

Q. Can my family and friends join me at Camp? 
A. Guests must be invited by a registered participant AND they must purchase their tickets ahead of time. No walk-ins allowed. There is a $25.00 per person charge. Non-registered visitors will not be allowed on campus as the Camp is not open to the public. Kids 7 and under are free and must be registered. Q. What should I know about The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp? 
A. The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp has allowed AngelRide the unprecedented use of Camp for our AngelRide family. AngelRide is the only outside organization that has been allowed to stay overnight and utilize the beautiful camp facilities. Please join us in honoring this privilege. Volunteers must wear their name tag and volunteer shirt at all times while on the campgrounds. The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp Rules: No guests are allowed at The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp. No smoking, illegal substances, or drinking of alcoholic beverages

Q. Will I be staying overnight at The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp? 
A. Because of limited space, very few Volunteers will get the opportunity to stay at the Camp.

Q. If I am an over-night Volunteer at Camp, what are the accommodations?
A. If you are one of the few who are able to stay overnight at the Camp, please bring a towel, sleeping bag, pillow and pillow case. Volunteers will be sleeping in cabins and shower facilities are available.

Q. What is expected from AngelRide volunteers?
A. All Volunteers should confirm with their Team Leader as to their assignment day/place/time. All Volunteers are expected to help with Camp & cabin clean up after completing their duties.

Q. Where do I park at Camp? 
A. Volunteers are encouraged to carpool. You will receive parking assignments, as we get closer to the event day.

Q. Will there be food and beverages provided? 
A. Yes. Confirm with your Team Leader as to your specific opportunities.

Q. What should I wear? 
A. You will receive a Volunteer t-shirt. Please wear that and your name tag as well as comfortable shoes. Silly hats, colorful crazy outfits and cowbells are encouraged!
