One Hill at a Time

By Judith E. Lackey

In 2012, when I signed up for my first Angel ride, I had no idea what I was in for.

The energy of the riders and volunteers was incredible. There really isn’t anything easy about the ride, but what our campers go through day in and day out isn’t easy. Being part of the Angel ride, you are part of a team and a force greater than yourself.

It was this one ride, this one experience that has me coming back for four years. I had many realizations on the hills (and there are MANY Hills) that will stay with me forever. It was the thoughts of the children that fight cancer and other serious illnesses daily. These are life lessons that allowed me to find serenity and conquer the ride “one hill at a time.”
